Carnegie Safari 1988 - present

If you look closely at the spine of this 1988 Triceratops you see evidence of at least 3 differrent molds. The width of the body is different and the pattern of osteoderms along th eback if different. From the collection of Fred Snyder.

The Carnegie Museum seires typically runs figures for several years and even continuing to sell older figures after a newer figure is designed. Two figures were retired very quickly Styracosaurus and Psittacosaurus a a year or two on the market. There has been a slow process of replacing the 1988 original release. The strict 1/40 scale has changed to a more mix of scales in new releases. This has enabled Safari to increase increase the detailing of the smaller animals
