Jellyfish were early complex animals. Belemnites and Ammonites were cephalopods. Living cephalopods include octopuses, cuttlefish, squid and nautiloids. they were important in Mesozoic seas filling ecological niches now held by fish. Trilobites are antropods that became extinct at the end of the Permian.
